Featured stone: Athena
Project Featured: Pymble House
As featured in the Home Beautiful Hamptons Kitchens collector’s edition, a newly renovated home in Pymble NSW showcases a large, multi-functional kitchen island with Smartstone Athena as benchtop.
One of Smartstone’s natural looking veined surfaces, Athena is a popular benchtop choice for east coast style kitchens. The versatile, classical beauty of this surface is seen in its unique veining and luminous white depth.
In addition to its aesthetics, the island conveniently features a dedicated wine fridge and concealed slimline drawers in the kickboard for storing large platters. The kitchen can easily cater to a crowd with its two dishwashers, two ovens, two sinks and generous Athena benchtops.
The splashback is a backdrop of hexagonal ceramic tiles, each inscribed with Italian saying and subtle floral patterns, perfectly complementing the back bench that is also in Smartstone Athena.
“This kitchen truly takes ownership of being the heart of this home. It is a Hampton’s inspired space with a twist and certainly is prepared for all the entertaining it does for the big family it belongs to,” said Sarah Comerford, designer and HOME by Belle Founder/CEO.
Sarah said Smartstone was chosen for this project due to the extra-large slab sizes. “The island in particular is extremely large and we wanted to ensure there were no joins in the stone so opted for Smartstone Athena.”
With the largest slab size in the market (3200 x 1600mm), Smartstone quartz surfaces provide greater design options and are more cost effective by reducing the number of slabs required.
