A combination of natural timber features, soft curves and subtle veining brings an uplifting and contemporary feel to this renovated seaside apartment.

“Your kitchen is not just a kitchen, it becomes a space that blends in with the surrounding,” according to Just In Place interior design partners and best friends Galit and Leah.

A one-stop shop for bathroom and kitchen renovations in Sydney, Just In Place created a well-curated custom kitchen that blends coastal elements with open plan living. With a G layout, the kitchen comes with an amazing ocean view that inspired the over-all design and atmosphere of this dreamy unit in Coogee in southeast Sydney.

“What distinguishes a kitchen from a great kitchen is not only the look and the layout, but also the practicality. We spend quite a lot of time in this space, and it needs to suit our needs”.

The beautifully curved timber batten detailing draws attention to the welcoming breakfast bar in a natural-looking Smartstone quartz benchtop with a generous recess and designer stools, making it the perfect space for everyday living and entertaining.

In choosing a curved edge benchtop, the design duo said, “Long gone are the days when sharp edges and boxed shapes dominated the design. Not only is it pleasing to the eye, but it’s also safe in terms of traffic from and into the kitchen”.

Crisp white cabinetry, integrated appliances and bespoke timber handles set the tone for the impressive Smartstone benchtop and splashback.  “The stunning 40mm benchtop has enough movement to create a slight contrast between the benchtop and the cabinet finish, but modest enough to not dominate the look”, explained Galit and Leah.

From Smartstone Paris Collection that aptly takes its inspiration from a city renowned for its sophistication and style, the veined benchtop is a refined version of a modern concrete look that brings elegance to any interior with its subtle and soft veins that replicate the natural beauty of marble. Compared to natural stone, Smartstone engineered quartz offers more durability, a high-end finish and large slab formats of 3200 x 1600 to allow for more design possibilities.

To achieve a cohesive and minimalist finish, Just In Place created more practical kitchen space for convenience and everyday use with a pantry cabinet that holds all the cooking staples in one place, a hidden pull out bin and a roller shutter to hide benchtop appliances.

Through thoughtful planning and choice of elements, a compact space can become functional, fresh and feel luxurious as illustrated by this impressive kitchen.  With seamless integration of appliances, the kitchen also projects a simplistic and minimalist look typical in a modern home designs.

Perfectly meeting the brief, the Smartstone gives a light textured finish with a splash of natural beauty that is unique, interesting and perfectly complements the light filled interior and coastal surrounds.
