Fifth home reno features more Smartstone veins in House Rules High Stakes

Featured Colour: Bianco Onix and Athena
Project Name: House Rules High Stakes – Mum’s Dream Home

Smartstone veins have become a popular choice for Channel 7’s House Rules High Stakes renovations.

As seen in the fifth whole house reveal in the home renovation round, three different teams picked two of the most beautiful and natural-looking veined Smartstone quartz surfaces for benchtops in the Western Sydney home of mum Lenore who is competing with her son Bradley in House Rules High Stakes.

After the consultation with Apollo Kitchens, best mates Laith and George, another team from NSW, chose a galley design with a massive kitchen peninsula with a Bianco Onix benchtop. Compared to a kitchen island, a peninsula has a series of cabinets connected to the main body of the kitchen on one side. Kitchen peninsulas are ideal for open plan kitchens, replacing walls with a run of cabinets to create storage space as well as to define the kitchen border.

One of the four new veined surfaces launched late last year, Bianco Onix features a gentle, sweeping vein on a glowing white background. It is a classic surface that is perfect for contemporary Hamptons style homes and an ideal match with blue hues. With the beautiful marble-like Smartstone benchtop, the kitchen peninsula came out as a stunning piece with dark, navy blue base cabinets with shaker doors and silver handles.

Next to the kitchen is a pantry area where mum Lenore can store and prep food for the family. In this space, TAS twins Kimmy and Rhi decided as well to use Bianco Onix as benchtops.  Just like the kitchen, the pantry had dark blue cabinets with shaker style doors and white overhead open shelves for maximum storage.

In another zone, WA couple Tanya and Dave chose beautiful, marble-like Athena for the laundry room. A popular surface from the luxury range, Smartstone Athena has a versatile, classical beauty seen in its unique veining and luminous white depth. As it blends perfectly well with both grey and blue colour palettes, it has been a favourite for a variety of home designs, especially Hamptons style. The L-shaped Athena benchtop with washer and dryer underneath paired well with the herringbone tiled walls, ornate floor tiles and white overhead cabinets.

Offering exquisite designs, Smartstone has 18 veined surfaces in its collection that replicate the natural beauty of marble while offering the durability of quartz.

In the home renovation round of House Rules High Stakes, teams design, build and style another team’s home in just 7 days, working on assigned zones while following specific House Rules set by the owners. For the western Sydney home of Lenore, the House Rules were:

1. We would love a refreshed Hamptons home
2. Open up with light and love
3. Give us the blues
4. Deliver elegance with contemporary, clean and crisp wet areas.
5. My grandson Aidan deserves a nursery fit for a prince.
