This charming kitchen is part of a classic contemporary home on Sydney’s north shore. Interior designer Sally Rhys-Jones wanted the island to be a subtle feature that wouldn’t take over as the kitchen is part of a large open plan living space.
Smartstone Carrara is the surface of choice for the island bench. One of the most popular natural looking veined surfaces in Smartstone’s Milan Collection, Carrara perfectly replicates marble with its subtle, random veining on a luminous white background.
“We decided to use Smartstone ‘Carrara’ as it had the look of Carrara marble but it wouldn’t have the upkeep that having real Carrara involves,” according to Sally Rhys-Jones.
Smartstone quartz surfaces are designed to offer high performance with low maintenance, and being non-porous it will never need sealing or waxing. Only a little commonsense is needed to care for a Smartstone surface.
The Turramurra kitchen also features modern streamlined cabinetry, shadowline handles, and slick appliances coupled with a classic pendant, bentwood stools and Carrara marble on the splashback for some texture.
