A full-scale renovation transforms a dated yet charming property into a modern and spacious, three-storey home, featuring beautiful Statuario Grigio.

In the residential suburb of Mosman in Sydney’s lower north shore, an entire house underwent a massive renovation and extension.  A dated yet charming property was transformed into a modern and spacious, three-storey home, featuring Smartstone’s beautiful Statuario Grigio.

Aiming for a natural look, the home renovation project sought a surface material that perfectly replicated natural stone for the kitchen, specifically for benchtops and splashback. For the island, Statuario Grigio provided the desired contrast while complementing the charcoal island base and bar stools with its luminous white based and grey veins.
Pace Kitchens responded to the clients’ request of “a natural looking man-made stone” with the choice of Statuario Grigio. Well aligned with the owners’ design vision, Statuario Grigio replicates the luxe beauty of Italian marble with its sweeping bold-to-fine grey vein on a gleaming white background.

The feature splashback which continues all the way up to the ceiling gives this kitchen an added dimension and makes this kitchen a standout and provides a striking backdrop for the concrete-inspired rangehood. Due to its book-matchable capability, Statuario Grigio can cover large surface areas without disrupting the vein flow, resulting in an excellent display of marbling design and a beautifully seamless surface aesthetics.

Due to its popular, natural-looking design, Statuario Grigio has transitioned from the engineered stone range to the new Smartstone Sintered Collection which has no resin content and fully compliant with all Australian government requirements.

Creating an entertainer’s dream, the open plan layout offers more space to accommodate a small group at the bar, as well as a larger group at the cleverly designed dining area with a banquette that neatly runs along the back wall across the kitchen. Working within space constraints, the island serves to configure the space, a divider that provides the host a separate work area while entertaining guests.

With eight new skylights, natural light brightens every single room in the home, especially the kitchen where it enhances the luminous quality of the Statuario Grigio surfaces.
