NSF/ANSI Std. 51 (National Sanitation Foundation – Food Equipment Materials)

NSF is the largest global organization in the inspection and certification sector of products and materials destined to come into contact with foodstuffs and drinking water. The seal of quality NSF, synonym of public health, is globally recognized for the high standard of quality of the approved products and increases customer confidence when purchasing the product. The NSF/ANSI 51 standard is specifically applicable to materials and coatings used in the manufacturing of objects destined for contact with foodstuffs, whether solid or liquid. The objects or materials certified standard NSF 51 must comply with strict criteria concerning analysis and guarantee of the requirements of the purity of substances used for its manufacture.

Greenguard Certification Program

The Greenguard Certification program gives assurance that products designed for use in indoor spaces meet strict chemical emissions limits, which contribute to healthier interiors. Greenguard
certified products have very low chemical and particle emissions.

Formerly known as Greenguard Children & Schools Certification, Greenguard Gold Certification offers stricter criteria and considers the safety factors to account for sensitive individuals such as children and elderly. Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO)

Smartstone surfaces have been tested by the CSIRO for resistance to extreme heat, chemicals and stains. Because of the low moisture absorption and stain resistance qualities, Smartstone surfaces are perfect for kitchen worktops and splashbacks as well as bathroom vanities, bath surrounds and panelling.

MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet)

A Material Safety Data Sheet or MSDS is a document that contains information on the potential health effects of exposure to chemicals, or other potentially dangerous substances, and on safe working procedures when handling chemical products. All Smartstone products are covered by an MSDS issued by Risk Management Technologies, an internationally recognised risk management technology provider that writes and maintains Safety Data Sheets for over 600 national and international chemical manufacturers. The Smartstone MSDSs are written to the highest standard and comply with the relevant legislative standards.

Fabrication Manual

Smartstone maintains a comprehensive Fabrication Manual which stipulates that fabricators and installers should at all times comply with all local Occupational Health and Safety regulations. Smartstone surfaces are completely safe for stonemasons when safe handling standards are implemented. As part of our ongoing service, we provide fabricators and installers with information about the safety guidelines when working with Smartstone including recommendations for Work, Health & Safety, and labelling individual slabs with the relevant warnings, and health and safety information.
