David Jones Food Hall at Bondi Junction in Sydney features Statuario Venato, a marble inspired surface from the Smartstone Santorini Collection.
David Jones engaged Landini Associates to help “reinvent” their food offering of the premium department store’s food hall at Bondi Junction, Sydney. The new food hall design celebrates multiple specialist “worlds” of newly developed David Jones Food, the theatre of food production, and the joy of dining in good company.
Multiple dining options mean that you can eat wherever you like in the 2,500 SQ M space; with the butcher himself, at the fishmongers, the sushi bar, the re-imagined 12m oyster & wine bar, in the exclusive private dining room, tastings bar, or Asian Grill and Italian Café.
Some food preparation surfaces and benchtops at the food hall are fabricated in Statuario Venato, one of Smartstone’s most natural looking veined quartz surfaces. Inspired by prized Statuario marble, this beautiful surface features a luminous white background with fluid grey veining.
Landini Associates Creative Director Mark Landini expressed, “We chose Smartstone for the combination of its textural, luxe aesthetic and the fact that it’s hardwearing which is necessary in a commercial space such as this.”
Smartstone surfaces are certified by international organisations for meeting some of the world’s most rigorous and comprehensive standards for low emissions of volatile organic compounds. This assures that Smartstone contributes to healthier interiors and its surfaces are guaranteed safe for use in all food environments.
Landini Associates are a team of designers and strategic thinkers from around the world, based in Sydney and working on projects in Australia, North America, the UK, Europe, Asia and the UAE.
