Smartstone launches sintered stone recreation of iconic natural stones

In response to market demand, Smartstone is offering both Taj Mahal and Carrara sintered surfaces in the mid-price category in the Smartstone Sintered Collection, a surface range that elevates the qualities of traditional porcelain.

“Our research showed that the market is fascinated by the beauty of Taj Mahal so we developed a precise replica with our advanced print technology to offer a more affordable alternative,” said Madelina Kalpou, Smartstone National Specification and Architectural Manager.

Taj Mahal evokes the grandeur of its namesake with warm, creamy tones and delicate veining that mimic the elegance of the natural quartzite from Brazil. Ideal for both residential and commercial applications, it brings a sense of luxury and tranquility to any space.

Carrara, on the other hand, channels the classic charm of Italian marble with soft grey veins on a cool, pearly white background, perfect for creating refined interiors with a modern twist. Probably the most iconic marble, Carrara has been used in architectural and artistic masterpieces across the world for centuries.

Created using a sintering process, Taj Mahal and Carrara are UV-stable, non-porous, and highly resistant to heat, stains, and scratches. ‘Sintering’ replicates millions of years of the earth’s metamorphic processes by combining advanced technology with natural fusion techniques. Intense heat and immense pressure (30,000 tons) bind natural minerals to create an ultra-compact, extra-durable material that delivers exceptional performance, during both the fabrication and installation stages.
