Ask Emma of Wilbur Jones when she knew she wanted to be a designer, and she doesn't hesitate. The answer goes all the way back to high school.
"I've wanted to be an interior designer since high school. I love the attention to detail, seeing a vision come to life, and helping bring that vision to reality for my clients," she says.
That instinct for detail, and for helping a client's vision take shape, is exactly what she brought to Allambie, a collaboration between Wilbur Jones and Adenbrook Homes across two new display homes at HomeWorld Oran Park. It was a rare opportunity to showcase what Smartstone can do across the board, pairing builder-standard inclusions in a single-storey home with a more elevated palette in a double-storey display designed to turn heads.
For Emma, it was the freedom of the brief that stood out most. "The creative freedom I had was amazing. Adenbrook wanted to evolve their offering, and Smartstone played a big part in helping us achieve that," she explains.
She'd originally had her heart set on natural stone. It's a material she loves, but one that doesn't always suit every project. "I love natural stone, but it can often be cost-prohibitive and isn't always as durable as clients are looking for," she says. "That's where Calacatta Viola came in. It gave us the aesthetic we wanted without having to compromise on performance."

Alongside Calacatta Viola, Bellini Bianco brought a softer, more balanced note to the scheme. Together, the two surfaces feature across the benchtops, splashbacks and kitchen shelving, finished with a distinctive double sharknose edge that adds another layer of considered detail.
So what made Smartstone the obvious choice? For Emma, it comes down to three things: "Durability, the product range, and the breadth of choice."
She says the experience of working with the team matched that promise every step of the way. Behind the scenes, Golden Touch (stonemason) crafted the stonework, while Rositano Kitchens and Joinery brought the cabinetry to life, with Adenbrook Homes delivering the project as builder.
For Wilbur Jones, Allambie is more than a finished project. It's a reminder of what's possible when thoughtful design and considered material selection come together, an approach Emma continues to bring to every Wilbur Jones project.
