In the Melbourne suburb of Murrumbeena, design duo F3 Studio brought the kitchen out of the shadows to create a brighter and more functional space.
Connecting the kitchen directly to the eastern light, F3 Studio carefully replanned the ground floor of a 1920s California bungalow, curated elements, and specified Smartstone Bellini Bianco from the new Sintered Collection as surface material for the island, benchtops, splashback and rangehood shroud.
Featured in various applications throughout the home, the beautiful Bellini Bianco provided an extra glow to the kitchen with its distinctive delicate brown-grey veins streaked with subtle amber hues on a warm white backdrop.
Taking it up a notch, F3 Studio chose Bellini Bianco as cladding for the rangehood, spontaneously creating a remarkable centrepiece for the kitchen. With an impressive heat resistance, Sintered Collection surfaces are fire-proof, non-combustible, and able to withstand extremely high temperatures.
The creative use of the same material as rangehood shroud and splashback created an impressive visual effect and illusion of spaciousness. The shroud's perfectly mitred joints also proved to be a testament to the expert craftsmanship of the stonemason.
"The careful replanning also transformed an existing pantry into a butler’s, converted a play space into a full-size laundry and embedded a new powder bathroom where the existing kitchen once stood," explained F3 Studio interior designer Travers Cunnington.
Ensuring not just the functionality but aesthetic design as well, F3 Studio chose the Sintered Collection surfaces for its durability and through-body veining.
With pencil round edges for both island and other benchtops, through-body veining became a critical factor in selecting the right material. This groundbreaking feature of the Sintered Collection differentiates it from traditional porcelain which only has a plain or white colour underneath the surface. For plain colours, the biscuit or body of the slabs in Sintered Collection matches the colour of the surface.
The unique visual of veins flowing through the body of the slab is specifically valuable for benchtop designs with exposed edges and undermount sinks.
"Bellini Bianco’s colouring perfectly complimented the Blossom White and Adriatic blue cabinetry, along with the new engineered oak flooring and accents of brushed brass," Travers added.
Bellini Bianco is also featured as benchtops and splashback in the butler's pantry and laundry area.
From the Classic mid-price range, Bellini Bianco is an exquisite marble style sintered stone surface that recreates the understated beauty of Italian Carrara marble.
The Classic range features five superb interpretations of versatile natural stones with refined veining and is one of three colour-coded price points of the Sintered Collection.
