Smartstone enhances kitchen space in My Ideal House

The construction of My Ideal House kitchen has recently begun with Smartstone Carrara as island benchtop and Absolute Blanc as rear benchtop and splashback.

Initiated by Australian House & Garden magazine, My Ideal House is a house design competition won by Madeleine Blanchfield, an architect who rose to the challenge of creating a designer project home that is affordable for the average family.

“The My Ideal House competition was conceived to generate a timely discussion about how we can build and live more sustainably, how to create community without sacrificing privacy and how good design can nurture families through every life stage,” said Australian House & Garden editor in chief Lisa Green.

In the kitchen of My Ideal House, the island bench will be central to how the home owners will gather, dine and entertain. “It’s designed to be the only kitchen fixture that truly stands out,” says Madeleine.

One of the leading distributors of engineered quartz surfaces in Australia, Smartstone Carrara has been chosen as the ideal surface for the kitchen island bench. Smartstone surfaces replicate the beauty of natural stone and provide the durability of quartz. With European-inspired colour collections, Smartstone offers 26 natural looking quartz surfaces to the Australian and international markets.

Smartstone Carrara perfectly replicates marble with its subtle, random veining on a luminous white background. It comes in an economical slab size that allows greater design options and bigger cost savings. Carrara, Absolute Blanc and all other Smartstone surfaces are awarded global quality certification and comes with a 15-year limited warranty.
